Founded in 2004, BAU is an artist-run gallery and project space that serves as a platform for artists to experiment, exhibit, and collaborate across disciplines. Through a rigorous program of exhibitions, presentations, performances, workshops, and more, BAU is committed to fostering artistic growth and risk-taking, providing opportunities for both established and emerging artists, and engaging with and fostering community.

BAU Gallery is built on five key pillars:

  1. Collaborative Curatorial Projects: BAU facilitates collaborative curatorial initiatives, fostering a collective approach to the curation and presentation of artistic works.

  2. Diversified Events Hosting: Our platform extends beyond traditional exhibitions to encompass a spectrum of disciplines such as performances, artist talks, film screenings, musical events, and spoken and written word, creating a rich and diverse cultural tapestry.

  3. Community Engagement: BAU fosters connections between its activities and the wider community, encouraging community involvement, broadening access to the arts, deepening arts appreciation, and expanding the understanding of art’s ability to engage, inquire, challenge, and delight .

  4. Gallery and Community Excellence: By nurturing collaborative efforts between its members and the broader Hudson Valley creative community, BAU aims not only to excel as a gallery but also to fortify itself as a hub of vibrant artistic conversation.

  5. Presentation and Marketing: Members and participating nonmembers/guest artists have the opportunity to showcase and promote their artistic endeavors, providing a dynamic space for the exhibition and commercialization of their work.
